who is The garden mama of charlotte?!

Hello! My name is Emily French and I am Garden Mama of Charlotte. Gardening and Mothering are two of my greatest gifts and passions in this world and how I spend most of my time, hence the name "Garden Mama."  I am also a wife to my husband, Alex, and immensely proud of that vocation as well, however,  "Garden Wife Mama" just doesn't roll off the tongue as easily :)

I am obsessed with all things gardening, especially edible gardens that include growing vegetables, herbs, flowers and fruit. I am also passionate about food and food integrity.  I believe that food, in all of its sustenance, diversity, beauty, healing properties and tastiness, is an incredible gift from God. And having a hand in growing our own food, whether it be a little or a lot, offers an expansion upon the understanding and appreciation of those gifts.

I am a self-taught gardener and have been gardening for 10 years. I am completely enamored with gardening and growing, and my passion grows more every season.  There is nothing more satisfying... gratifying rather, than being able to walk outside, pick something from your garden and put it on your table to nourish you and your family. Not only is home-grown food more nutritionally dense and healthier for us, it also opens us up to have a greater sense of gratitude for our food gifts.  The more we and our children understand how our food came to be on our plate, the greater appreciation we have for it.  And... gardening is also just really fun!!

And it's that experience that I am passionate about sharing with others. I want everyone who wants a garden to have a garden!  I know firsthand that "starting out" or "keeping up" in the garden scene is not always easy and I aim to bridge the gap between those families/persons wanting to have a garden and grow their own food, but not having either the time or the know how.
